NIS America’s Judith Pi Reveals Details On Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana For Nintendo Switch [DEVELOPMENT IMAGES]

Associate Product Marketing Manager at NIS America, Inc. has spoken in online interview revealing therein interesting information specific to Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana incoming to Nintendo Switch! Ys is a Japanese computer and console role-playing video game series, and Nihon Falcom corporation’s flagship franchise. It started on the NEC PC-8801 in 1987, created by Masaya Hashimoto (director, programmer, designer) and Tomoyoshi Miyazaki (scenario writer). In terms of the number of game releases, Ys is second only to Final Fantasy as the largest eastern role-playing game franchise. Ys is particularly popular in Japan and Korea.

Hi! My name is Judith and I’m currently an Associate Product Marketing Manager at NIS America. I am in charge of all aspects of social media marketing for this title. Ys is an action RPG series that centers around Adol Christin (besides Ys Origins). He’s an adventurer who travels the world (usually with his companion Dogi). The Ys series gameplay has evolved a lot over the past 30 years, with several different styles, but all the games feature fast, addictive gameplay and Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA is no exception! We are aiming for the highest quality possible in all aspects. We anticipate a mid-summer launch. Many Nintendo Switch gamers have compared Ys VIII to the Monster Hunter and Xenoblade series. Also of note is that this is the first time an Ys game has been brought over to a Nintendo home console since Ys III: Wanderers from Ys was launched on the SNES. We believe that the revised localization of Ys VIII better captures the essence of the Japanese language version. That said, language and culture are deeply intertwined and not everything can translate 100% from one language to another; in those cases, we have made sure that the essence of the original is preserved. Please stay tuned for more details specific to the Switch version of this game. As the social media manager, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of our supporters who take the time out of their day to talk to us via our social channels like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. It makes me so happy to be able to personally see what everyone has to say, the good and the bad, things we can improve on, and things you are all excited for. Nothing makes me happier than being online and getting to know you all through our games. “

(Numbers are JPN Only)

In this the 52nd week of the NS on the market the NS sold 39,696 bringing LTD sales to 3,757,827 and YTD sales to 445,208. The units sold are flat from last week, unfortunate they haven’t started increasing stock levels yet, but at least the drops have come to an end (for now at least). About a year on the market now, just a few more days.

Bayonetta 2 (NS) saw sales drop -43% this week to 5,443 for a total of 14,975. This gives a bit of hope for the legs of the NS version of Bayonetta 2 as the Wii U version had a drop of -82%, dropping from a much better first week total of 38,828 all the way down to 6,970

NINTENDO 3DS FIRST TO SURPASS 5M

In addition, the NDS has finally caught back up with the NS and will almost certainly stay ahead for the foreseeable future.
