Media Create Sales (Feb 19 – Feb 25) – NS Sales Steady, Bayo 2 (NS) Drop Less Than Anticipated [DETAILS/CHARTS]

(Numbers are JPN Only)

In this the 52nd week of the NS on the market the NS sold 39,696 bringing LTD sales to 3,757,827 and YTD sales to 445,208. The units sold are flat from last week, unfortunate they haven’t started increasing stock levels yet, but at least the drops have come to an end (for now at least). About a year on the market now, just a few more days.

Bayonetta 2 (NS) saw sales drop -43% this week to 5,443 for a total of 14,975. This gives a bit of hope for the legs of the NS version of Bayonetta 2 as the Wii U version had a drop of -82%, dropping from a much better first week total of 38,828 all the way down to 6,970

NINTENDO 3DS FIRST TO SURPASS 5M

In addition, the NDS has finally caught back up with the NS and will almost certainly stay ahead for the foreseeable future.

Monolith Software’s Secret UE4 Project Is Online, Fantasy Action, Quest Based [DETAILS]

SOURCE

During an interview with Monolith Soft developers Yasuyuki Honne and Tomohiro Hagiwara, the studio expressed their wishes to make games based on original IP that Monolith Soft owns.

Although Monolith Soft has been in business for a long time, the studio took on many projects with IP that they do not own, notably the games from the Xenoblade series and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Yasuyuki Honne says he hopes to change that in the future, by letting the Kyoto studio work on games based on Monolith Soft’s original IP. The Kyoto studio is currently working only on Nintendo IPs.

Licensing Source Book Europe Leaks Crash Bandicoot Trilogy Switch Port [DETAILS]

DHX’s 2018 Spring Licensing Source Book Europe published an outline set forth by Activision pacing a 5 year development focus on the series carrying the IP to other consoles through the year 2022. See Below:

It might seem strange seeing Crash Bandicoot focusing on a rival of Sony platforms rather than continued effort on the platform in which it came since now porting over Nintendo Switch. It should be interpreted easily as the wisest target audience to penetrate with the series as the demographic seems more fitting and encourages greater revenue as result. Sony has never held any first party rights to the series itself despite how aggressive the mascot marketing appeared to consumers in past generations. While Insomniac developed Spyro, Naughty Dog developed Crash, and Universal Interactive Studios published both IP licensed at Sony. The IP became property of Vivendi following their purchase of UIS, and Activision has since acquired Vivendi and thus now controls where to focus the series moving forward.
